Mossy Jigsaw begins with a choice of eight woodland paintings shown as thumbnails, and four sizes: 12, 24, 48 or 96 pieces. Each piece is a genuine jigsaw shape with rounded tabs and blanks, given a gentle bevel and shadow so it looks like card lifted from a box rather than a flat square. The paintings are the same soft woodland scenes you see around the glade, full of lanterns, mushrooms, mossy paths and warm evening light.

The pieces start scattered around and below the board. Drag one close to its spot and it snaps in with a soft click and a glow, then stays locked. A timer runs quietly in the corner, and when the last piece lands a sparkle sweeps across the whole picture. It is a small moment, but after a long session with a 96-piece puzzle it feels like a well-earned round of applause from the wood.

How to play Mossy Jigsaw

  1. Choose one of the eight painted scenes from the thumbnails on the start screen.
  2. Pick a size of 12, 24, 48 or 96 pieces, depending on how long you would like to play.
  3. Drag pieces onto the board; when one is close to its true position it snaps in and locks.
  4. Use Edges first to lift edge pieces to the top, and hold Peek to see the picture faintly.
  5. Place the final piece to stop the timer, collect your stars and watch the sparkle sweep.

Mouse / touchPress and drag a piece to move it, then let go near its spot to snap it into place.
KeyboardDragging does all the work here; the Edges first, Peek and shuffle buttons sit beside the board.

Getting better at Mossy Jigsaw

  • Press Edges first at the start and build the frame; it gives every other piece a clear place to aim for.
  • Hold Peek briefly to fix a region in your mind, then let go and hunt for pieces by colour.
  • Group pieces from one area, such as a lantern-lit path, into a little pile beside the board.
  • If the scattered pieces feel overwhelming, shuffle them to see them in a fresh arrangement.
  • Try a familiar picture at a bigger size; knowing the painting already makes 96 pieces far friendlier.

Real tabs and blanks, drawn piece by piece

Square tiles would have been quicker to build, but they would not feel like a jigsaw. Every piece in Mossy Jigsaw is cut with curved tabs and blanks, and each one is drawn onto its own little canvas with the painting clipped inside and a soft bevel around the edge.

The shapes matter for play as well as looks. A tab pointing left tells you something about where a piece can go, just as it does on a table at home. Experienced puzzlers will find themselves sorting by shape as much as by colour. Newcomers can simply drag and try; a piece that does not belong just will not snap, so there is no harm in experimenting.

Eight pictures, four sizes, and a shelf of finished puzzles

With eight scenes and four sizes there are thirty-two different puzzles to complete. Your best time is saved for every picture and size pairing, so racing yourself on a 24-piece favourite is a lovely little challenge of its own.

The personal best shown above the stage counts something gentler: how many puzzles you have completed in total. It climbs every time you finish, whatever the size, which suits a game built for calm rather than speed. Finishing a gentle 12-piece puzzle with a child counts just as much as a marathon 96, and we rather like that.

Questions about Mossy Jigsaw

There are eight painted woodland scenes, each available at 12, 24, 48 and 96 pieces.

While you hold Peek, a faint version of the finished picture appears on the board, helping you see where things belong. Let go and it fades away. It is perfect for checking whether that patch of green belongs to the treetops or the mossy floor.

Yes. Your best time for each picture and size is saved in your browser, and your personal best counts how many puzzles you have completed. Every finished puzzle, at any size, adds one.
